Following the latest World and African Universities ranking, Nigerian Universities could not find it easy compared to South African Universities as five South African Universities made 1st-5th positions before the University of Cairo, which is on 6th Position in the list of African Universities Ranking (AUR). The University of Capetown is the best University in AUR with World University Ranking (WUR) of 303-Position. Although for Nigeria Universities,
1. University of Ibadan came AUR 9th Position, WUR-1032,
2. Covenant University AUR 27th, WUR-2034
3. University of Nsukka AUR 31st, WUR-2217
4. Obafemi Awolowo University AUR 33rd, WUR-2235
5. Federal University of Techonlogy Minna UAR 50th, WUR-2531
6. University of Lagos AUR 62nd, WUR-2769
7. Ahmadu Bello University AUR 72nd, WUR-2971
Moreover, with inclusion of other Nigerian Universities ahead on the ranking table, the University of Port Harcourt is AUR 109th position in Africa, with WUR of 3580-position out of World total ranking of 11999, which Adeleke University Ede (also a Nigerian University) is among the universities that filled into the positions of WUR-11999. However, most of the Nigerian tertiary institutions including Polytechnics and Colleges were founded on the Mahadum.Com source list, except Federal Polytechnics Nekede, Owerri. It is quite unfortunate that a local high rated Polytechnics like Federal Polytechnics Nekede was missed out from the source link.
Contrary, mahadum.com learnt that there was a press release from the Office of the Director (Press and PR) constituting an audit panel on utilisation of take-off grants to 12 New Federal Universities. The panel was to meet on Tuesday 2 May 2017, however, we do not know if they actually meet. For the Press Release, click here.
